Hair restoration has come along way in only a handful of years. These advancements in hair restoration technology have greatly enhanced the lives of many people. The person suffering from baldness or thinning hair today, has several option to choose from and utilize tomorrow.

For many years people simply attributed hair loss to bad hygiene or old age. Then, hair loss was just a fact of life. People had no other choice but to deal with it. Although there were home remedies to prevent and treat baldness, nothing seemed to work. Eventually, this people to look for alternative measures. Those men and women who were ashamed of their appearance soon learned to make wigs.

Women with thinning hair had long since discovered the use of wigs which had been available for a long time simply as a fashion statement or for theatrical purposes. Hence, the first solution to mask or hide hair loss was to invent the wig or and toupee. Many men and women wore these as it was the only available option. Toupees proved to be unreliable as the wind could easily carry it away. And yes, the toupees made from faux hair had always looked very obvious.

It was clear something else had to be done. The next invention came in the form of a spray. Yes, believe it or not, there was spray on hair, or at least hair color. By applying this to the scalp in thinning or bald spots one could cause the hair around it to appear fuller and from far away it appeared the head was full of hair. At least this was the idea. As you might imagine this did not go over well and quickly found its way off the market.

Finally, the shampoo companies stepped in and began producing volume shampoos that would increase the volume of the hair that still existed. While these shampoos are still popular, they did nothing to stop or slow hair loss. Thus the shampoo companies strived to find a better solution.

Soon they came out with hair enhancing shampoos that slowed the hair loss process. These shampoos were the first step toward a real hair loss solution. Men everywhere bought the products in bulk and the shampoo companies knew they had struck gold. Shortly after, came the introduction of Minoxidil. This was the solution men were looking for! Unfortunately, its effects did not work for everyone.

Those that remained dissatisfied with their hair and overall appearance relied on an alternative. Finally, the surgical world began to look for answers to hair loss. Surgeons attempted several different procedures over the last few decades, and quickly discovered they could transplant real hair. Today we call this procedure hair replacement surgery.

Today numerous herbal and natural treatments for hair loss have begun to take the place of more expensive sugeries. Finding the right herbal solution takes patience and persistence.
