Is Saw Palmeto an effective natural hair loss treatment?

When I first started noticing my hair loss I immediately started searching the Internet for natural treatments that would help me keep my hair. I found information on Saw Palmetto pretty quickly and I noticed later on that there were a lot of people who were recommending it as a natural hair loss treatment. I didnt necessarily believe that Saw Palmetto worked for hair loss just by reading comments on the Internet but I never would have expected to hear some of the negative side effects that some people told me about.

Ive read so many reports and books on Saw Palmetto that have talked about how safe it is and how it works for hair loss and because it was so safe I thought it wouldnt hurt me to try it. Most of the information I got praising Saw Palmetto came from websites but I heard a very different story on newsgroups and on bulletin boards where people are free to give unbiased opinions and information. Ive heard everything except "Saw Palmetto works". I never heard that. I cant help but wonder how much Saw Palmettos hair loss fame has to do with Proscar. Proscar is good for blocking dht and it works for Hair Loss so since Saw Palmetto is good for blocking dht it must also be good for hair loss. Right? Maybe. Maybe not.

Some of these people had very strange and terrible side effects from taking Saw Palmetto. The most popular side effect of Saw Palmetto was a decreased libido but I also heard some pretty weird stuff like testicle aches and even blurry vision which really scared me. Now why didnt I hear about this stuff before? It could just be that these people are a very small portion of Saw Palmetto users with negative side effects but It was a little shocking to hear that so many of these people had the very same side effects.

Now I wont rule out a conspiracy theory. It is possible that a major pharmaceutical company could be behind the bad press but I doubt it because that isnt the way they operate. In most cases they fund biased experiments debunking the benefits of a drug but they dont go to forums a spew negative information. That is why I believe that Saw Palmetto might not be the hair loss wonder that it is being.

Now of course these people who took Saw Palmetto and had side effects were most likely young healthy individuals who didnt have prostate problems at all. It is possible that Saw Palmetto actually does work for older men who have prostate trouble that might be causing hair loss. The problem is most likely that younger adult men just shouldnt be taking Saw Palmetto even though it is marketed to them. I wouldnt call it a scam hair loss treatment but the information I received was a little bit disturbing.
