Hair loss is a serious problem. It is not a disease that can lead someone directly into death but having hair loss problem can affect a persons life. Looking for a hair loss treatment might be difficult task. Many remedies out there to be picked with various ingredients claimed to stop hair loss. There are natural herbs or chemical remedies for hair loss treatment.

Minoxidil is one of hair loss drug that has been proved by the Food and Drug Administration. Minoxidil is applied to the scalp to stimulate hair growth. It does not work to stop the cause of hair loss, just induces hair growth.

There are two versions of Minoxidil solution. They are 2% and 5% formulation. The 2% Minoxidil formulation had been approved for men and women while the 5% is only approved for men.

Minoxidil is available without prescription and applied topically to avoid systemic side effects. Those are the positive side of Minoxidil. Yet we must not forget that Minoxidil may also give side effect like skin problems or an irritation on the scalp. Each person has their own sensitivity, so what is not happened to other people may happened to you or vice versa.

Before deciding to use Minoxidil, read carefully about Minoxidil side effect. Its worth to visit hair loss forums where others share their experience in using Minoxidil. Learn from other experiences. It helps us know what to expect and what will happen next. An educated medicine user will help maximize the medicine usage.

What if the result is unexpected?

Stop using Minoxidil. Further use of Minoxidil on irritated scalp will only make it worse.

Treat the irritated scalp Consult a doctor to treat irritated scalp before using Minoxidil again. An anti histamine cream might be given to cure irritated scalp.

Use other treatment to treat hair loss So, the only approved medicine is not suitable for your scalp. What else should be done? Try another treatment for hair loss.

To prevent existing hair from falling, laser treatment is worth to try. Many people succeed in reducing hair shed per day using a laser hair comb.

Replace Minoxidil with another hair growth treatment. Natural herbs are the options. Saw Palmetto, for example is a famous herb in hair loss treatment.

Even though another treatment has not been approved yet, it does not mean that it is not working as hair loss treatment.
